Recommended Ages

Although we love kids in general (and we have several of our own!), we have learned from experience that:

  • Our collection is filled with historically important equipment that is fragile, expensive, and irreplaceable
  • Our tours are 2.5 hours long and full of content that is not even remotely interesting to young children
  • Bored children can become a distraction on tours and ruin the experience for both their parents and other guests
  • Per museum policy, all tour groups must stay together throughout the entire tour so there is no opportunity to step away from the group for a few minutes for a “time-out”

THEREFORE we strongly discourage visitors from bringing children younger than 12 on our standard tours.

Accessibility

The Museum of Music Technology is housed in a historic former warehouse that is currently in the process of being retrofitted for full accessibility.

  • Our tours are approximately 2.5 hours long and involve walking and standing for extended periods of time as well as climbing stairs.
  • The majority of our building is wheelchair accessible but there are still a few areas that are only accessible via stairs.
  • If you have limited mobility or specific accessibility needs, please contact us before booking your tour so we can discuss the accommodations we can offer.

Make a Day (or Weekend) of It!

The Museum of Music Technology is centrally located in the East Coast metro area within easy driving distance of:

Philadelphia, Reading, and the Lehigh Valley – under 1 hour

Lancaster, Lititz, and PA Dutch Country – about 1.5 hours

New York City, Baltimore, and Washington D.C. – 2 - 3 hours

If you’re planning a trip to any of these areas, we promise MMT is well worth a detour! And if you come to visit us, we’re happy to recommend some other cool places to check out.
